Sound Notes
===========
As i had some problems getting the Sound "Jerkyness-free", i will
give some hints here how to get the sound with best quality. At
least they were like this for me.
First of all: Yes, soundoutputs slows down, right. AHI is currently
68k-only and tons of contextswitches are needed. I am trying around
with some tricks to reduce the number of contextswitches, so possibly
in a future version sound might be faster. If it is too slow for you
(603e owners, for example :( ), use -nosound to switch the sound
OFF. Also when AHI for WarpUP is available this might improve things :)
(But a new version of WarpSNES will then be needed...)
In this current version, though, sound causes a slowdown of 25% !!!
Sound options:
-nosound
Switches off the sound
-soundskip
values 0-3, use only if sound is off
-soundquality
0 - off
1 - 8192
2 - 11025
3 - 16500
4 - 22050 (default)
5 - 29300
6 - 33600
7 - 44000
These settings seemed to require the most "playing around with". The
things which worked best for me (Settings in sys:prefs/AHI) were:
For Paula:
Use a frequency as high as possible
For Soundboard (for example Prelude):
Use EXACTLY the frequency used by the -soundquality parameter you
chose !!!
If it jerks, play around with the settings once more !!!
-ahiunit
To choose a different AHI Unit to play (Default=0)
-stereo
-mono
Use Stereo or Mono, default is Stereo
-buffersize: 4096-32768 (default: 16384)
If it jerks, this might also help. For me 16384 and the above
AHI Prefs-Settings produced a perfect result :)
-prelude
Currently does not work. In the future a prelude.library
mode will be done with this...
